Lenovo IdeaPad 330S (AMD 2019)

A fantastic, inexpensive productivity computer.

“I’m a basic user. Bouncing from college to an office with the task of primarily taping away at Word documents.  I don’t need anything overkill and a nice inexpensive laptop that should last me a while is exactly what I need.”

Unbiased Review

What’s not to like about thin bezels? This is the more sophisticated sibling to the IdeaPad 320. Better screen, nicer design, arguably above the 320 except for its trackpad. It’s small and doesn’t feel quite as “set” as you glide your finger around – but its usable and not bad by any means.

Who’s it for?
College kids or office workers on a budget. Thrifty travelers. Those who want something simple and light but only need something basic for occasional use. Who’s it NOT for?
Heavy gamers, heavy video / photo editors.

Build & Quality

Strong plastics like most IdeaPads. It could take a beating from your typical student or office worker. It’s lighter, thinner, with a smaller profile than the 320. At around 4 pounds and .5″ thick this checks all the boxes of those looking for a happy medium between price and nimble. Build quality is great and we haven’t seen a lot of them come in for service, but go easy on the hinges. Don’t violently swing the screen open because we’ve seen (mostly HPs) the occasional Lenovo have broken hinges – though this rule should apply to any laptop.

Power and Speed

Fantastic. When paired with a solid state drive this will knock out all productivity tasks and light image editing. Don’t expect hardcore gaming or video editing, though light video editing would work fine.

Features

Packed with plenty of features including a webcam, microphone, and solid I/O (Input Output). We love the thin bezels on the screen as all devices should come this way. Screen resolution is a fantastic FHD (a gift on a value laptop). The screen folds all the way down to the table making it completely flat, and the keyboard is full size with a number pad.

Conclusion

Another productivity home run from Lenovo. We recommend this over the IdeaPad 320. This machine will be great for college kids, office workers, and those that need an inexpensive laptop set for travel.
